It is so wonderful to be home. And Even though I miss my kindergartners a lot, December was basically useless eduation wise with many anticipations and constant interruptions. But, we had fun being festive, and were all happy to have a break come Friday at 3:01.
I was able to stop in the Tri-Cities and have dinner with Lindsay and her family which was WONDERFUL! So good to see them. Great to see my Lindsay and have a wonderful place to stop. Because literally, I thought I was going to fall asleep.
Saturday when I got home was our neighbors riverboat party. They used to live in my neighborhood but they moved to a houseboat on the river, and every year boats drive down the willamette river all decorated with christmas lights and such. Always a fun night.
Sunday was my family's annual Christmas party which is always a day of preparing-cooking and clearning to get ready for the whole neighborhood and all of our friends. I hid at about 7:45 in my parents room and watched Christmas movies. I couldn't do the same questions of "hows teaching, hows spokane?" so I bailed.
Monday dad and I started our venture to find me a new car! Basically all of Monday and Wednesday were spent looking at 3 different cars. I was very anxious but finally made a decision on the very first one we looked at, which happened to be the first one dad and I both saw online, when he was in Portland and I was in Spokane. Meant to be!
AND! MONDAY I GOT TO GO TO A BLAZERS GAME WITH BARB'S FAMILY!! THEY WERE SO GENEROUS AND BOUGHT ME A TICKET TO GO WITH THEIR FAMILY AND I WAS IN HEAVEN. We were in the closest section and I could just about reach my boys. I saw tons of Whitworth people and people from my highschool! Great Portland reunion. Thanks Liggett family!
Now we just prepare for Christmas. Our family has soooo many traditions and it is oh so fun. I'll put up pictures someday. My computer won't connect to my parents internet soooo it makes life interesting!

great week.
Seems as if I have been a bit absent from the ol blogarooni.
Highlights from this past week?
1) Goodbye Jimmy dinner with Analisa, Keith, Bill, and of course...Jimmy.
2) Church today, seeing Zach's parents, 2 teachers from my elementary school that I didn't know go to my church, having coffee with profe before the service, and sitting with Jimmy and Bill.
3)Danika came to town! Fun night at O'Dorety's and time with Analisa, Danika, Joanna and Kevin.
4)Dinner at Josh's parents house last night. Great conversations with his parents.
5) West Central tonight, visiting a house that I have been going to since November 2008.
6) Caroling at church with Josh, Bill and Analisa on Wednesday night. Lots of fun and Pastor Joe was hilarious! Couldn't remember the words to songs!
7) Great times with my kindergarten kiddos. Getting ready for Christmas, basically we have thrown academics out the window because lets face it, they can't focus this week!
Excitements coming up?
1) Spending the night with Lindsay in the Tri-Cities Friday night.
2) Portland on Saturday until late December/Early January.
3) Christmas boats Saturday night with the neighborhood.
4) Family Christmas party on Sunday.
5) 2 beautiful weeks with my family and friends back home.
I am continually reminded how blessed I am with the people and circumstances I am surrounded with. What more could I ask for?

Thanksgiving fun for everyone!
I had a wonderful time in Portland.
Thursday consisted of lots of family time, cooking with mom, watching christmas parades/movies with the fam, and then the thanksgiving event!
Friday mom and I braved Target and the Columbia outlet!!! And starbucks of course. Had a wonderful day shopping with mom. Then watched the UofO football game, the blazers game, and the BSU football game. Crazy!
Saturday was Christmas tree day with lunch with the neighbors. We found a great tree!! Then I visited baby quinn and Ruby who are SO BIG NOW!!!!!!
Then I hung out with my hold highschool d group!!
Overall, a great weekend. Finished off with a wonderful breakfast with team Baylis.. I love being home.
Analisa and I returned to soooooo much snow. We are waiting for a snow day!!!

loving the season.
Here I am, sitting in Starbucks with Analisa, drinking peppermint hot chocolate, listening to Christmas (it's allowed in Spokane before Thanksgiving because of the snow), and doing lesson plans for the next two weeks.
Thursday morning I awoke to find a bit of snow outside. I cried, but then I got over it. It was just a tiny bit and it melted. I decided I'm ok with it, as long as it doesn't:
a) inhibit my driving abilities
b) stop my trip to Portland on Wednesday.
Being completely and udderly eager to go home later this week would be an extreme understatement. I am in major need of family time, in my cozy home, with all of our holiday traditions underway. In the Baylis family, we live by traditions. Thanksgiving weekend traditions include: Thanksgiving dinner with the neighborhood, shopping with mom on Friday, Christmas tree hunting and McMenimans with the neighbors on Saturday, and since i've been away from home, crazily decorating the house Saturday/Sunday. I am hoping to fit in a trip to the columbia outlet with mom, and sushi with dad, along with visiting many of the families I babysit for. Baby Quinn is growing too quickly.
This week has been interesting at school, we have had half days because of parent-teacher conferences. I have actually had a great turn out of parents which I wasn't expecting. They have definitely been overwhelming and honestly a bit depressing. It breaks my heart to see these broken families, and the relationships they hold. On the positive note, my students have made WONDERFUL progress since the beginning of the year, and even if no one else is, I AM SO PROUD OF EACH OF THEM!!!! I do have a few parents who share my proud feeling, and work with their students, which is so wonderful to see.
Last night Analisa and I had a roommate date night, including dinner at a new burger restraunt (Rusty Roofs). The food was good at the time, but after I ate it I felt like I had eaten a brick, not burger and fries. We then journied to RedBox to rent a movie, which we both fell asleep in my bed watching, after we had drug the TV into my room, stacked on a few boxes, as always, keeping it classy.
I hope this almost December month finds you thankful and joyful.

I am back from a much needed vacation to sunny california, and have returned to good old spokane. Thankful it is not snowy!! It is great to be back in R apartment with my lovely Analisa, and was so good to be back with my kids today. Missed them! I have such a hard time leaving them!
I've been a bit homesick lately, and am so excited to go to Portland next Wednesday. My one question phone conversation quickly turns into a 45 minute chat with my parents. I love them so much. So lucky to have parents that are my friends and support me.
Had a fun day at kindergarten, one of the other teachers had a birthday and brought chinese food in for us four K teachers. I LOVE my team so much. They are incredible.
Well, it's 835 and I just decided to make potatoes. Healthy life choice? no. Delicous? yes. living the dream.

The holidays have a special feeling about them.
I am feeling on top of the world.
I love my job. Honestly, growing up and graduating, I never expected that I would actually want to wake up and go to work everyday. At 6:30 my alarm tells me it is time, and while I, like any other human would love to snooze for an hour plus, I think about where I get to go. I have 24 students who brighten my day everyday, that's not to say that everyday has its challenges, but every one is worth it. I love the responsibility of being the protector of these children. No matter how much one of my kids may bug me when they CAN'T stop talking, if they fall on the playground, I feel like a mother with the concern in my heart for each of my kids. I can't wait to go back each day and make a difference in these kids lives. No, I didn't grow up in a neighborhood where it was no big deal for the SWAT team to show up, for amber alerts to be put out on my classmates, but God did give me a heart and the strength to serve these kids.
Thursday night 2nd Harvest foodbank brought 6,000 pounds of food to hand out to our families. Borders donated 1000 dollars worth of prizes for a Bingo night literacy event, and each kid walked away with 2 new books. Good things are happening.
Analisa and I got our first peppermint mocha of the season, in the much loved holiday starbucks cups, courtesy of Claire for our princess day treat :) Thanks Clairey you are so thoughtful.
We then went to the Dollar Tree to buy gifts for our "Operation Christmas Child" shoe boxes. I love this time of the year and how giving people become. I just wonder, why can't this spirit be consistent, from myself as well, all year long?
I purchased new snow tires this weekend. That was huge. I feel so grown up, buying things like tires, by myself, with my own money, not relying on my parents anymore. However, I do still appreciate all they do for me and where they have gotten me to in life. Go team Baylis.
The clouds are moving so quickly outside, my ear and sinus infection are seeming to dissapear, thanks to last nights margaritas probably :)
Keep high spirits this week people.
All the world will fade, one thing will remain, love that took our place.
All the world will fade, still our hope remains, in amazing grace, love that took our place. Jesus took my place.
Have a good week.

Good morning and happy Sunday!
It is 10:55, and I woke up.. 10 minutes ago. Got a good 10+ hours of sleep and I'm loving that. Analisa and I just took shots of our cough medicine. We both have been under the weather the past few-five days.
Used our best judgement accordingly in planning our halloween fiasco.
Yesterday she and I went on a shopping adventure at the valley mall. Got my first real job pay check on Friday and decided I needed to invest in more professional clothing. Got 2 skirts (each were on sale 50% for 6 dollars at oldnavy!!) A pair of black pants, and 3 shirts from Nordstroms Rack, which my friends just moved from Northtown to the valley. By the end of our shopping experience we desperately needed a snack so we stopped at Aunties pretzels for the "but 2 get 1 free" which we werent able to finish. Anyways, we finished off at Claires and bought our halloween costumes: cat ears, a tail and mittens. Pictures on Analisa's to come.
We couldn't figure out what we wanted to do for halloween, but the local radio station was having a party so we decided it might be interesting, so Analisa Joanna and I headed down! We were contemplating it when we got there but then we saw BOBBY HUGHES and his 3 friends so we decided it would be fun. Had a really fun time with those boys. Super fun and super respectful like I have never seen at a bar/party. And! Billy was bartending so that was fun too!
We only stayed til about 12, made a mcdonalds run and were passed out by 12:30.
But what I wanted to show you was my classroom! I was inspired by Lindsay's office pictures post.

4:45 PM Keith leaves for work. Goodbye Keith!
4:46 PM Analisa and I rest, do some homework/watch online TV shows.
6:30 PM Decide all we want in life is to watch hocus pocus.
7:00 PM The search begins to find Hocus Pocus! Go to Walgreens (no luck) Redbox (no luck) Fred Meyer (no luck) Red box (no luck) Target (no luck) Best Buy (LUCK LUCK LUCK!!!) Analisa screamed and I started crying. (Took us an hour to find it. We were ready to drive to canada.)
8:00 PM We celebrated by going to Burger King... don't judge...
9:00 PM Went home for about 15 minutes, and decided we wanted to go to Value Village
10:00 PM Leave value village with childrens books and fairy wings in hand.
10:30 PM Keith returns. Hocus pocus starts. Hot cocoa drank.
Who can beat our saturday?

Bring them home.
I had by far the toughest day as a teacher, and scariest day of my entire life Thursday morning. As i'm brushing my teeth, listening to the radio as I am going through my normal morning routine, Positive life news comes on. I hear a blur of words including "low income family" "amber alert" "three boys" and then the names. My student. My beautiful blond hair blue eyed 6 year old kindergarten student's name is on the radio. The moment the "amber alert" was spoken, I knew it was my boy. Hearing his name was so unreal. I completely lost all control of my emotions.
With this being the internet, that is about all I can say. The next 2 hours were pure hell as I talked to school and district officials, showing recent pictures and answering questions.
We are still praying for Kyron Horman back home in Portland who also got abducted.
The whole week has been pretty rough in that aspect. Being in the lowest income school in the district, I am daily faced with CPS reports, broken families and tears of fear coming from my students. This week I have noticed more and more families in Spokane in despair.
It is such a hard reality to face, knowing I am 23 years old, a graduate of a prestigious university, I have a family who backs up every single thing I do,best friends who are there for me through thick and thin, a steady job with a salary and benefits, the list goes on and on. I walk into winco to buy treats for my kids, and I am surrounded by broken families. Checkers that can't get a job anywhere else. What makes me so special to have all these priveliges?
This week has also reminded me to completely and fully dedicate all 6 hours of my hours to my kindergartners and all students I interact with, with unconditional love. My opportunity begins at 9:00 and ends at 3:01 to make a difference for that day. Those may be the only 6 hours in my students lives that they will experience that unconditional love. The only peace of mind I have is knowing that B is safe, and I know I did all I could while he was in my class to keep him safe and protected, and know he was loved and valued in our classroom. Praying safety for him to come back to our classroom in God's time.
Make someone's day.

Highlights of the past week:
- Got contracted, as a full time employee of Spokane schools as a Kindergarten teacher (get to keep my K job.. so happy and relieved.)
- Analisa and I are joining a gym. We are testing OZ out right now and are liking it.
- Jackie (Analisa's friend from home) came this weekend to visit. Lots of fun Target and Value Village shopping trips! Laid out in the grass, until the sprinklers came on.
- Paul came up for the weekend to drive back to CA with Zach. Didn't seem real saying goodbye to Zach. Excited for his adventures ahead and to visit the sunshine :)
-Saw despicable me again at the garland with Jimmy Bill Analisa and Jackie. BE QUIET FISH. IT'S SO FLUFFY!
- West Central tonight. Pretty rough getting back into it after being away. Really great to see our fav family but huge reality check and pretty hard watching them deal with things no one should have to deal with.
I'm excited for a new week, to sign insurance papers, go to yoga class, and house sit the farm!

In case you guys are missing how strange Analisa and I are...
Here is a brief synopsis of our night.
After both having long days of teaching, we decide it is well worth it to make a trek to our favorite stores.
1st stop? Dollar tree. Enough said.
2nd stop? Ross. Successfully left with some playdough, and a wall decoration. of course.
3rd stop? "Goodwill" Who closes their store at 7pm? grow up.
4th stop? Winco. My second time today, we are regulars. We always get the same things. 2 boxes of fiberone bars, 2 packs of sandwich thins, grapes, carrots, turkey, you know.
But... tonight... a frozen pizza. look alive.
5th stop? R apartment. cooked frozen pizza, analisa made pudding... kind of :) Almost burnt down the ol' apt...
and here we are now, watching friends, digesting a whole frozen pizza.
I love my roommate.

No question...
my kindergarteners are the cutest things in the world.
Here are some class stats.
I have 22 kids. 11 boys, 11 girls, 2 that don't speak much English, 16 with far from typical names, 0 who can pronounce "Baylis"
We listen to the hokey pokey, line up cadence, tidy up, say hello, and peanutbutter about 9,000 times a day.
We take a few recesses.
We can only sit for 6 minutes at a time.
We are working on our names, letters, numbers, colors and shapes.
I am learning what patience really means.
We love play doh, light bright, toy cars and painting.
They appreciate my dancing skills, and my ability to "draw" dogs and cats.
Analisa and I are going to Didiers in a few minutes.
Today felt so much like Fall and I loved it.
My kids have the biggest smiles in the world.
My Kindergarten team is the best I could ever imagine.
I go to target about 3 times a week.
Analisa is here to get me.
Love love.

Love love.

From room 203 to 101 we go
Thursday, I arrive to Longfellow to find the front office staff quite confused that the subdesk showed me as only to be there half a day. After many calls between principals and HR personnel, I was told that I was to report to Logan (my new school) at noon that day, not the next day as planned.
Emotions were heavy as I left my third graders in the lunch room, and headed off down the road to Logan. I was embraced my smiles and hugs by my new fellow teachers.
I am on a kindergarten team along with three other ladies who are WONDERFUL. In a strange way, I feel like Logan is where I am supposed to be and feel a lot more at peace than I did at Longfellow. So, I spent Thursday PM and all day Friday setting up my classroom. Here is what it looks like as of Friday PM.
I get my kiddos Monday morning!
My birthday was wonderful. I am constantly reminded of how amazing my friends are. I woke up Thursday morning to find the whole appartment decorated by Analisa, along with chocolate chip and two iced grande no whip mochas for us to share.
Upon returning from a stressful day transitioning between two schools, Analisa, Jimmy and Keith celebrate my day with me with a wonderful Mexican feast, compliments of "Analisa's" cooking skills :) Along with a wonderful dessert and fun with 3 of my best friends.
Last night we continued the celebrations over at the boys. To all our absent corner house girls, we need you. Last night ended up being me, Analisa and ten boys. We missed you so much.
Now I continue making lesson plans. Here we go Logan Lions.

Goodbye Panthers, Hello Lions!
As quickly as my time at Longfellow began and came to end, my new adventure at Logan comes to a start.
Thursday will be my last day in 3rd grade at Longfellow. Why is that?
Because as of Friday, I am a Kindergarten teacher at Logan Elementary just down the street!
Not sure what Kindergarten will be like, but i'm really excited about it!!!
Parents were here this weekend, that was so fun and wild of course.
Internet is shady so that's all i've got folks.
Much love

learning to trust.
To keep everyone posted, as promised, here is the update on my job.
Staffing was today, and it turns out, I will not get to stay with my kids for the remainder of the year. Since I was a sub-start, I knew this was a possibility going into the school year, but did not anticipate the emotions that would come attached.
Basically what it comes down to is the numbers are too low in the primary grades, and the district won't fund an "extra" teacher to keep the numbers low, even though it would be beneficial to the kids. So, I, being the sub-start, got removed.
So what that means is, after next Friday, after I have transitioned the new teacher into my classroom and said goodbyes, I am unemployed. HA.
All the staff at LF have been so wonderful and encouraging and supportive, and are very upset with the outcome. The hardest part is knowing I have a week with my kids, and that's it. The last thing these kids need is another person leaving them. They have enough of that in their homes, and I know they won't understand.
On the plus side, there is NO DOUBT in my mind, that there is something planned for me, and for my kids. God is good and has never let me down, I just can't see the whole picture right now. I am so lucky to know this and have someone to count on.
Another plus side? Mom and Dad are driving up tomorrow to spend the weekend at R apartment. Can't wait to see them.
So, I sit, at the service station, planning next weeks lessons for my kids. We have a math assessment and I know they will rock it.

DONT GIVE UP!!!
It's been a while blog world. Sorry.
Things have been completely crazy. A week ago, Sydney and I left the farm for a quick minute to grab starbucks for ourselves and Kristine and Addy (we were all cleaning the house to prepare for dinner, where they tried to set me up with a real cowboy...) Anyways, while we were at Starbucks I had a voicemail, listened to it and it was the principal of the school I student taught at. She said she hoped I could come to an interview the next day (Friday) for a position that had just opened up in 3rd grader. Obviously I quicky accepted the interview slot. Was a complete disaster for the next 12 hours as I sat through a blind date hearing Bryce and Paul talk about cows... too extreme for me... as I panicked about the possibility of having a job.
The next morning, I was sitting in the Longfellow office with the principal and reading coach (both of whom I knew very well). The interview went great, felt very comfortable and successful. Went back to the farm for a few hours, and on my way home from the farm got a call saying I got the job. Within 24 hours I had been called for an interview, had the interview, and had the job. It was now Friday afternoon and I started training on Monday morning at 8 with the district.
Mind you, I have been in a 3rd grade class for one hour since my years of being a 3rd grade student. I panicked the whole weekend and made endless trips to target, walmart (shh mom and dad) and many garage sales trying to find some 3rd grade supplies and books, mind you I had never seen 3rd grade curriculum.
Monday: Training 8-3 with all new certificated teachers in the district. 330-8 my first time in my classroom, frantically trying to get something together. Here is a before picture of my classroom, about 1 hr into my "organizing" the furnin\ture:
This poster welcomed me when I came in:
Tuesday: In school staff training 8-3. Everyone was SO welcoming to me. I knew everyone already, from student teaching there, but it was such a wonderful feeling seeing my name on the new staff list, seeing my name on my mail box and having every one tell me they were SO glad I was picked for the position.
Honestly, I couldn;t have done it without my fellow staffmates. Everyone gave up so much of their time to come check on me, help me rearrange, make sure I had everything I need. My principal is amazing, and I have the best teachers surrounding me and encouraging me, acknowledging I am in a rough spot and how great i'm doing.
My position is a substart position, which basically means I may not have a job after next week. Since it was so last minute, and they couldn't post the position online, they couldn't technically hire a new teacher, so i am a 'sub start' and if a teacher in another school who is contracted loses their position b/c of lack of enrolement, or wants to transfer to my school, they can take my position.
We are all hoping this doesn;t happen, but regardless, I am not in control and it has been an amazing opportunity and experience. I know I can start a classroom in a few days, and make it through the first week of school.
Thursday my kids came, and they are amazing. The whole third grade is a pretty awesome group, but obviously mine are the best :)
By Friday they didn't want to do get to know you and fun activities all day, they wanted to LEARN! They are an ambitious group and I love them for that.
Even if I only have them through next Friday, they have made me proud already and I know they will all be successful.
Here is a picture of my class that I took before school started. It is more decorated now, my kids helped me with that :)

gaga and baby
Lots of fun was had at Gagaust! It was a weekend full of camping, smores, lady gaga, pet parades, crazy shopping adventures, the capital building, drives, massage circles and occasional icing of me and Analisa vs. Keith and Jimmy:)
It was so fun to be back over there. Loved spending time with Liana Kathy and Ron. And Mercedes and Simba to of course.
Analisa, Keith and I had a wonderful drive back, where we made stops at Kachess Lake, the "wild" metal horses, George, Washington, icecream, starbucks and more.
Came back from a wonderful weekend, and at 330 am Monday morning, 4 hours before I arrived to work, #7 Baby Bill was born. Within 5 minutes of being at the farm, I was up on the hill sitting with Baby. He is completely precious and my new bestie. I kind of feel special, because Licorice (baby's mom) trusts me with her calf. I can sit there for hours with him and she lets me without concern, where as if anyone else approaches baby, Licorice has him out of there in seconds. Probably because i spent 990000 hours sitting wiht licorice during her pregnancy. I have been working hard to get Baby to drink milk since he ins't getting a lot from Licorice. However, he wont drink from the bottle, or the bucket, or the bowl, or from the tube... only off my fingers... so, I sit. dipping my fingers in milk as he sucks it off hahahah. I'm a lost cause people.
Tomorrow night, Kristine and Paul are having this guy over for dinner who they are trying to set me up with haha. he is a REAL cowboy. we'll see how that works.
Anyways, here are some pictures of baby. The new love of my life.
Yesterday for Addy's birthday we got to go up in the tower at the airport... so intense. we got to go to the very top where all the guys are directing the planes in, and we got to go into the radar rooms and everything. SO much going on in there!

a 6 year old told me to "stay classy" today.
so it has basically been forever since I have updated this.
No internet still, so the library it is! However, i finally upgraded and got a new phone, which conveniently sends me all my emails :) So i'm able to keep up on job openings and random facebook comments :)
I spent an AMAZING weekend in Portland last weekend. Team Baylis had just about 36 hours together, but they were amazing. I spent Friday with the Sherwoods (the family I lived with in France). That was so much fun. We went out to lunch and on a "stroll" got coffee, and went shopping. It was like a time warp. it felt 100% that I was living with them again and it was just a normal outing for us. My mom said that's how I know they will be forever friends. 2 years of just emailing and it felt completely normal and wonderful to be with them. my little lou lou has grown up so much, and ben is the same sweet, lego loving boy.
Dad and I were able to have our sushi date, mom and i were able to have our nordstroms date, team baylis had a few bbqs, all accompanied me to the airport, along with smores night, shooting stars night and many more adventures. I love you guys.
Tomorrow I leave for GAGA!!!!!!!!!! Keith and I are heading to the airport where we will be met by Analisa, with Lindsay and Jimmy not far behind! So excited for a reunion with them.
Licorice still has not calved, but Addy and I had a scare today when something was coming out... hahah. just a fluid, I wont go into too many details, but I have read the "raising beef cattle" book 3 times now, focusing especially on the delivering calf section. I don't know if "proud" is the word im looking for, but I can properly label all parts of a cow, as well as all the fluids and steps of calving... is that weird?
Tuesday is Addy's 7th birthday, so Kristine and I have been planning her "7 fun things to do when your 7." It is starting at 7 am and will end at 7 pm. I love my girls. It will be a fun day.
Addy and I went on the carousel today down town. I alwasy get way more excited about things than she does and she always has to tell me to not make a scene, and "stay classy"
Visited Sean and Matt last night (our old manager/downstairs apt neighbors). It was good to see them, they moved literally a street away, where Sean is now managing different real estate.
What else?
I don't know. But it's just about time for me to print my boarding pass and head to walmart to pick up a few things (sorry mom and dad).
Much Love.

Keith and I made the most wonderful dinner last night!
We made an asian beef stir fry which was wonderful, and also finished off Paco (our 20 pound watermelon).
No calf again today. Bummer.
We spent the morning at the Dairy. Mike and Trish at Spokane Family Farm (you can get their milk at Rosauers, yes i'm promoting it) are wonderful and know us pretty well now! Addy: 6, Syd:8, Cole:2, Noah:4 (their two sons) and I ran around their farm for quite a while. They have pigeons, chickens, pigs, cows, horses, donkeys. Needless to say, lots of fun. The two boys are very rough and tough but cute as can be. The girls and I go every week to the dairy to get our milk for the week, so they know us pretty well. Pretty cool that they let us just do whatever.
TOMORROW I GET TO GO HOME!!!!!!!!! I am so excited. Mom and dad didn't come up last weekend, so i'm excited to see them and brother and the animals. And my Sherwoods are here!! And i'm getting a new phone. Should be good.
Still applying for jobs and such.
Anyways, that's about all I have. at 6:15 I am printing off my boarding pass. That is in 3 minutes. better go get a spot at the library printer station.
Much love

Well, here I am.
Sitting at the Spokane Public library. Using the internet. Typical.
I am sitting here along a window, and this tiny little child runs up with a huge chapter book, so I ask him if he wants to sit down in the chair next to me. He opens the book upside down and pretends to be reading it. Probably the cutest thing ever.
Thoughts of the day:
1. I got my haircut today. Olya is legit and does the best haircuts.
2. Spent an hour at Starbucks before the ol' hair cut appt.
3. Licorice is way ready to have her baby/possibly babies. I went down every hour to check on her.
4. Keith and his friend AJ came to my farm yesterday to buck hay. I drove the tractor, they picked up 500 bales (60 lbs each). They are amazing and great workers. Even played tea party with my girls!
5. Going home on Thursday. So excited to see team Baylis, the Sherwoods and maybe some other folks.
6. I miss Analisa. The apartment is lonely.
7. Summer is almost over. My girls are almost going back to school.
Addy is almost 7.
8. I don't have a job.
9. Addy and Syd finally found out about "ebay." Keith kept calling me it at lunch and addy turns to her dad and says... "dad....who is EBAY??????"
That is licorice in the top pic. me doin my thing on the tractor in the second.
much love.

It's official.....
...Sean and Matt have moved out. Gucci, shoulder shrugs, Ski Goggle Extreme Motorsports and illegal fish will no longer be a part of our lives. No, I was not too attached to our landlord and his roommate who lived in the apartment below Analisa, but the reason for this introduction is that...our free internet left along with their wild 3 am parties, whistles from below our balcony, and countless invitations to come "chill." Upon returning from 12 Garage Sales, a trip to Target, Goodwill and T.J. Maxx, I arrived home to see a Comcast van in front of R apartment. The green wireless icon was no longer present on my desktop, no matter which corner of each room, closet or bedroom I tried to go to, to "borrow" the internet from another neighbor. Well, I did not succeed. Luckily, my beloved Starbucks never lets me down, so with my treat receipt in hand, I arrived to yet again find free internet.
So here I am, accompanied by a grande ice water and vanilla bean frappacino, (already got my iced grande no whip mocha today) a stack of overdue thank you notes, and my trusty headphones, that only work in the left ear.
I had a fun week with my girls. We had a kitchen extravaganza yesterday afternoon. I made 2 batches of lasagna, while the girls "experimented" making crazy kitchen concoctions, many of which are the typical child recipes of hot sauce, brown sugar and what ever else they can get their hands on... but they did have two successes, one in testing at what degree sugar melts (375) which led to the topping of creme brulee, as well as squeezing about 100 grapes to make "grape juice." I love my girls.
Tomorrow morning at 6 am, Keith, his friend and I are going to my farm to help Paul bale the hay. Well, it is already baled, but I will be driving the tractor from field to barn, while the boys load it up. It will be an experience none the less, but the boys seem to be excited about it. HAHA. Hopefully Licorice will have had her calf so I can play while the boys work. Of course.
Muchhhhhhhh love to you all.
Missing all my girls. I am officially the only one of the corner house girls in Spokane this weekend. Em will be back soon, Analisa on the 23rd, Joanna at the end of the weekendand Claire for 2 quick days before going to her real job in Seattle. Lindsay, Ande and Danika... you are missed lots by the old Spoke.
Peace out.

I haven't really felt like blogging lately.
We (corner house girls +me) had a wonderful weekend in Seattle, celebrating Lindsay's birthday. But I think everyone who reads this was present, so I won't elaborate.
My dear Analisa left me today to spend a few weeks with her family, so i'm holding down R apartment. Come visit :)
I had a wonderful day today with my girls. No huge scenes were made, no animals escaped, no one got attacked by anyone or anything. We spent the morning at Green Bluff and picked some raspberries, apricots and cherries. We also enjoyed some huckleberry icecream and apple pie! After Greenbluff, we came back to R apartment to have lunch (Em and Analisa were here for a bit too, which my girls loved) and then me and my little loves went swimming at our pool. Overall, it was a fun day.
Tomorrow I have paperwork/security/training meetings down at the SPokane Public School office downtown to get 100% in the clear to substitute, in case no jobs come through!
This weekend I am helping my farm move some hay (i'll be driving the tractor).
The weekend after that I am going to Portland to visit the family I lived with in France. They are in town!
The weekend after that is GAGA!!!!! Lindsay, Analisa, Jimmy, Keith and I will enjoy the pet parade and Lady Gaga in Tumwater/Tacoma!!!!
August is lookin good!

We (corner house girls +me) had a wonderful weekend in Seattle, celebrating Lindsay's birthday. But I think everyone who reads this was present, so I won't elaborate.

A fun weekend was had by all!
( I hope!!!!)
Friday: Friday night after we were all home from work/school/etc, a group of girls went to El Sombrero (where Kaylee works) for a little Mexican food extraveganza. While eating, my phone starts to ring, and it's the farm. I think this is a little odd so I run outside (my phone only works on speaker... let's stay classy now) and Kristine tells me that a calf was born on Friday. We didn't know a cow was born.. I had expected it but they told me no one was prego! So, needless to say, my mind was unfocusable. All I could think of was my new calf. How weird am I? After dinner, Claire, Liana, Analisa and I went and saw Despicable Me. It was honestly the cutest/best animated I have seen in ages. I laughed and cried. many times. TYpical.
Saturday: Analisa and I have taken a new liking to Garage Saleing, so after driving through starbucks, we headed out and bought:
A bunch of hangers (I was all out), a huge frying pan (we had a small and medium already) as well as:
All for $11!!!! How great is that? The world clock will go in one of our travel rooms, and the African painting will obviously go in our Africa room.
After many garage sales, and getting lost many times, we went to get our sweet Liana. We hoped to go floating the river, but Spokane has run out of tubes evidently. So we settled for the pool. This was a lot of fun though because we had: Liana, Emily, Claire, Joanna, Zach, Jimmy, Mike, Joel and Niall over. We had a fun game of football/catch/keepaway in the pool.
We all went our seperate ways for a while, and then everyone (plus Keith) joined us later that evening! (See Analisa's facebook album)
Sunday: I have started watching the horses again. This time for 2 weeks! Em and Claire wanted to see the horses, and also I wanted to run over and see the baby calf, so I showed them my 2 farms, and they got to meet the family I work for. Then we went to church, got subway after and spent a bit of time by the pool! I finished another book today, and started another one immediately after. I am on my 5th Jodi Picoult book. House Rules, Plain Truth, Nineteen minutes, The Pact, and now i'm reading Second Glance.
Well folks, that's all i've got for you today..
I hope you have a wonderful week, enjoy the sun, don't forget your sunscreen (i'm serious).
Much love,

I had a wonderfully amazing Friday.
Here is a little play by play of my day.
7:45am Arrive at the farm. Kristine (the mom) didn't want to go to work today, so she didn't! The girls slept in forever, so she and I made pancakes, ate them. Went out to garden, came back in for more pancakes, chatted, the girls woke up, we had more pancakes. Then the four of uswent to Walmart, Starbucks and back home for pizza. The we all did a little cleaning, baking, and farming. I spent some great time with Chantel... my favorite cow if you havent been following... changed the baby chicks pen... collected eggs...and then it was 3:00! Kristine gave me a blender for R apartment, and a couple of steaks to BBQ this weekend!! Then after work I went and visited the horses.
OH EXCEPT THE WORSE THING OF ALL.....
TODAY WHEN I WAS MAKING COOKIES... I CRACKED AN EGG OPEN AND THERE WAS A DEAD BLOODY BABY CHICK. disgusting.
I feel like this summer is really good for me. I'm growing a lot and doing a lot of things out of my comfort zone, like transporting 24(one died) baby chicks from crate to crate while they are flapping their wings. There is no way on earth I would have done that prior to this summer. I'm learning that things need to be done, and I sometimes am the one that has to do it. Even though I know about responsibility, being the only adult on the farm most of the time (except when Kristine plays hookie :) ) I have a lot of responsibilities that cannot be ignored.
I feel on top of the world. Love the farm. Love the sun. Liana is here visiting. The weekend holds great promise.
Much love

Upon my arrival into Portland a week ago, I was met with the unpleasant scene of traffic. Well folks, I'm here to tell you, that near or far, city or country, there can be traffic.
I took my last turn before the dirt road where I spend my everyday, only to find this:
Yes those are horses. Yes, I took a picture while driving. No it was not unsafe because, we didn't move for a while. I had to laugh, because what else was there to do? I could not move these horses. I later found out they had escaped their yard a few hours earlier, and were still wandering around when some people figured out how to take them home. I love my adventures.
Tonight, Analisa and I had Keith over for dinner. It was wonderful fun, and after a great meal, headed over to the school to play basketball and swing. Just getting home, I am pleased to say it was a wonderful day and night and I am excited to see what tomorrow holds.
Much love.
Laugh when the horses cross the street in front of you. There is nothing you can do, so find joy.

While I was babysitting tonight, the kids and I were playing in the front yard. While I was making a fool of myself rolling down the grass hill with my kiddos, in the yard next door sat/scootered 6 middleschool or highschool kids. I couldn't tell. 3 boys, 3 girls. It was so funny to watch them awkwardly interact with each other. The other day when Analisa and I were at the pool, a group of middleschool girls showed up and their conversations were astounding. I am so glad I am over that stage of my life. A few days later, when we were back to the pool, a few young moms told us how lucky we were to have our bodies, and be able to lay around reading a book with out having to watch a bunch of kids, that we had birthed too young.
I just feel so happy with the place I am in life right now.
I have no prospective job opportunities right now, but i'm having the time of my life running around the farm, decorating mine and Analisa's apartment, and buying plane tickets to go see Lady Gaga with three wonderful friends. I can build a fairy house with Addy, then a few hours later talk with a favorite professor about the opportunity of teaching in Tanzania.
We have all made fun of our beloved Analisa for getting emotional and saying "we are so luckyyyyy" but truth is, she's got it down. We are so lucky. I have amazing friends, a supportive family, strong communities here and at home, and passions and dreams that no one can stop.
My challenge for myself is to enjoy. It is so easy to get frustrated when the 2 year old has learned to climb out of her crib and does so every 5 minutes, just because she can. Or when the bridge over the falls is closed and you have to take a detour. But i'll tell you. When you look in that baby's eye and she says "I love you Miss Emily" It's worth the frequent trips off the couch, as you try to keep posted on Ali's life, whether she will choose Chris or Roberto.
Enjoy tomorrow. Find the joy in inconvenience.
Much love.

in this here today gone tomorow life we're living in....
What a wonderful weekend I had.
On Saturday, I started off the day by spending some quality time with the girls down by the pool, making yet more friends with moms and their kids. Just wait, Analisa are going to be the Prarie babysitters. After a few hours of swimming, Claire and I went to meet Felicia and Amy at Costco for a Hawaii reunion. Having just gotten out of the water, wearing my swim suit and smelling like sunscreen, it was the perfect day for a hawaii date. You see, when the four of us (and Dana) were in Hawaii, we would frequently make a trip to Costco around dinner time to get pizza and icecream, as it was the most reasonably priced food on the island. It was great to catch up with the girls. After that, Analisa and I went Garage Saleing, where we made a purchase of: a paper towel rack. Big purchase I know. $1. And it even is maroon, which matches our color scheme. Then, for a few hours we decorated, made our signature meal (shrimp and asparagus, which our dinner dates for the week will both be experiencing) then Joseph came over for some great conversation. What a great friend he is.
On Sunday, Analisa and I started the day (of course) with two iced grande no whip mochas, and headed to the corner house to meet Em and Claire for church, which today was at the community college football field, where we had a church picnic and worship service. It was lovely. After church, Joseph, Claire, Analisa, Em and I went and floated the river, one of our new favorite past times, and Claire, a first timer, did great!!! So proud of her. After a few hours of decorating and organizing R apartment, the crew had a BBQ.
I feel so blessed to have the friends I have, and the life that I am able to live. I could not be happier with where I am right now and the opportunities I have been given this summer.
Much love.

I became a mother of 25 today.
What did I do at work today?
Well let me tell you, at the farm, things don't ever really go quite as planned. It was planned that when I arrived to work at 7:45, the girls would be up and ready and the girls, their mom and I would head over to Nordstroms! Well, at 3:30 am their chicks arrived for Texas, so with a 5:30am phone call, she told them we would be there by 8:30. So off we went to go pick the chicks up from the post office. 25 of them.
We did make it to Nordstroms, had breakfast, shopped for a couple hours, and had lunch. The Cafe manager LOVES us. Anyways, we then had to go to Aslin-Finch (a farm pet/seed store) where we got everything we needed. The manager thought it was hilarious that I was going to be the ones raising the chicks this summer, and gave me a entitled: "managing your small flock."
Now for those of you who don't know. I hate birds. They terrify me. But when I was given the assignment of raising these chicks this summer, I fell in love. Addy, Syd and I created a pen for the chicks, and named each and every one of them.
I know you probably don't believe me, but I can name half of them just with a glance. My favorite is Martin. He is Black with white tipped wings and a yellow tipped beak. We also have Owly, Leopard, Algae, Mr. and Mrs. Owie. Bitey, Bully and Meany, Witch, Fluffy, hmmm who else? Little guy and leg breaker. That's all I can remember right now. Don't judge me. I'm a farm girl.
Much love.
